Blackjack History

Posted on May 5, 2013

Those who play live online blackjack do not often know the history of the game. Do you care? Well, even if you don’t – here goes. The first ever reference to the game of blackjack, was in a short story written sometime in the early 1600s. In the story the characters were cheating at a game called 21. It was explained that the object of the game was to reach 21 without going over. And it also had the same rules as today’s game of blackjack- that the ace could be either 1 or 11. So there you have the first written reference. I suppose this means there really was such a game, or it could have meant the writer dreamed it up and it stuck. Later when this game started being played in the U.S., bonuses were offered to players if they got an ace of spades and a jack of clubs or spades. This was called a blackjack, and this name was continued in use from then on.

So now you know a little blackjack history. And now you can move forward to play the game, satisfied that your curiosity has been thoroughly satisfied. Actually, nothing will be satisfied until you start playing! It is really the greatest online casino where you can get present-day bonuses that will definitely attract you. There is nothing like a great bonus as an incentive to play. If you have questions, you can go to the help page and find answers. There are a whole list of games and tips and strategies for each one.

Blackjack is particularly appealing because you can enjoy the game completely when you can sit in your own living room (or bedroom or dining room or wherever you stick your computer) and play until you drop! Or until you run out of money. But even then you can keep playing. You can play the free game, practicing your strategy. It just never stops. An online casino never closes. You won’t have drunks running into you. You won’t have crazy people hanging over your shoulder. Blackjack online is great!
